Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 September 2026
This policy explains what TagHunger collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the TagHunger website and mobile app.
Who we are
TagHunger (“we”, “us”) provides a meal planning service for Indian kitchens. For privacy questions, email privacy@taghunger.com.
Information we collect
Account
When you continue with Google, we receive your name, email address, and a unique Google account identifier. Your email is your TagHunger account. A mobile number is optional and only stored if you add it for reminders.
Kitchen and meals
We store diet preferences, time constraints, health goals, pantry items, meal plans, grocery lists, and whether you completed a meal. That is what makes suggestions useful.
Photos and bills
If you scan a kirana bill or grocery invoice, we process the image to extract item names and quantities. Images are used for inventory, not for advertising.
Device and usage
We may collect app version, device type, crash logs, and basic usage events (for example, that a plan was generated) so we can fix bugs and improve the product.
Website
If you email us from the contact page, we receive whatever you send in that message.
How we use information
- Create and secure your account
- Generate meal plans, grocery lists, and expiry alerts
- Read bills you choose to scan
- Send optional reminders if you add a phone number or enable notifications
- Respond to support and privacy requests
- Keep the service reliable and prevent abuse
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use pantry photos to train public advertising models.
Legal bases
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process data to perform the contract (providing the app), with your consent (Google sign-in, optional phone, notifications), and for legitimate interests such as security and product quality. You can withdraw consent by turning off notifications, removing your number, or deleting your account.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers who help us run TagHunger — for example cloud hosting, crash reporting, and Google sign-in. They may process data only on our instructions. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users from serious harm.
Retention
We keep account and kitchen data while your account is active. If you delete the account, we remove or anonymise personal data within 30 days, unless law requires a longer hold (for example, a pending legal request). Full steps are on the delete account page.
Your rights
Subject to Indian law and other applicable law, you may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data, or object to certain processing. Use the account deletion page or email privacy@taghunger.com from the address on the account. We may need to verify it is you.
Children
TagHunger is intended for adults managing a household kitchen. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the account.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Please keep your Google account protected with a strong password and two-factor authentication.
International processing
Servers and vendors may be located outside India. When we transfer data, we take steps appropriate to the destination and the law that applies.
Changes
If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the date above and, when required, notify you in the app or by email.
